Blues Plate special is a four piece blues band featuring a honkin' harp and a tasty guitar with a smokin' rhythm section. They play original music and covers in the styles of blues greats Paul Butterfield, B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Fans and reviewers alike have described Blues Plate Special as "the real thing". Guitar, harp, bass and drums do the job, while StratCat Willie Hayes vocals seem to have been steeped in a smoky, whiskey-soaked barroom. Ya know - one of those where you can't get a cab after 10:00. There's a good sense of that old Chess sound on this record, but with a nice current rockin' tone too. The first order of their CD's sold out, during their first gig!
