Rawls got his early musical education from his grandfather, John Paul Newson, a blind guitarist who played around the Hattiesburg area. While still in high school, Johnny worked with such stars as Z.Z. Hill, Little Johnny Taylor, Joe Tex and The Sweet Inspirations. After listening to this excellent selection of songs, I'd put my trust anytime in Johnny Rawls. Bob Trenchard has composed these meaningful songs, and Johnny can sing and play them with feelings that come directly from the heart. He has some special talents that should place him among the outstanding R&B and soul performers of today. The Rays also shine through with skilled backing. This superb CD is testimony.
