Big Walker

Still Dream Walking

Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, Big Walker grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, in a family full of artistic and musical talent. The music in San Francisco, where he moved in the mid 60's, made quite an impression on him. Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Cream and The Jefferson Airplane were some musicians/groups that Derrick Walker heard and saw. He got instructions in harmonica early in life from his uncle, and later took lessons from Paul Butterfield. The sound ranges from soulful to blues & boogie to a thick, raunchy sound. "Black Ice" sounds like vintage Muddy Waters; the vocal resemblance being uncanny in places. Special guests include Jimmy Dawkins, Zora Young and Eric Bibb.
